Fiesta Van 2020 Telematics

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone know the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) location on a 2020 Fiesta 1.5TDCi.

Sync On-Board modem serial number (ESN) showing as: Not available. Battery disconnect and master reset already done.

Sync 2.5 version: G2.5_R25074B

Would anyone know why the modem serial number is not available ?

Ford Pass on Sync only shows the hotspot option. Thanks

Because your 2020 van isn't fitted with a modem.

Posting only for the purpose that it may help a future commercial vehicle owner. Information may not be correct but it's the conclusion I have at the moment and I do hope it's a conclusion.

After 2 months of changing modems and ACM units, pulling the van apart, endless phone calls to FordPass, posting in several other forums, flashing TCU firmware's and changing values with Forscan...

The van is equipped and wired for Ford Pro Telematics for fleet vehicles and will not work with FordPass.

Sync 2.5 without APIM module simply does not have the software hooks to talk to a FordPass‑type TCU, so the ESN field will always be blank. It’s a fleet telematics TCU, used on Transit, Fiesta Van, and other commercial models. Fleet TCUs don’t integrate with Sync at all. They sit on a different CAN bus and report data to fleet systems, not to the infotainment system. The Fiesta Van architecture physically cannot display or use a FordPass modem unless you retrofit Sync 3. The KT1T‑14G087‑EP modem is a fleet-only TCU. Fleet TCU's are designed for tracking only.
FordPass support were completely unaware of Ford Pro Telematics finally reporting back that they had "Never heard of it" and I think I must have talked to just about every member of the team in the months where the case had been open. Ford’s support scripts assume every “telematics” vehicle has FordPass. To Ford’s customer‑facing teams, “telematics” = “FordPass Connect”.

I deeply regret disassembling much of the dash, centre console, boot trims to obtain parts numbers and check wiring. I think I must have nearly worn out the OBD port connector on the GWM. If I had the above information, correct or incorrect, it would have saved me a lot of effort.

I have managed to get the van released from it's previous Ford Pro Telematics owner and I'm now in the process of creating my own fleet and registering my vehicle to it in the hope of getting Ford Pro's basic tracking and vehicle health through "Ford Pro Telematics Essentials"

If you have a Fiesta commercial van with Sync 2.5 and FordPass is working please don't tell me about it.
