Removing glass from power tailgate

Featured Replies

Hi all, my back window recently smashed. Autoglass replaced it today but let me know they are unable to remove all the glass from the boot lid panelling as it is a power tailgate so hard to access.

Quite a bit of glass rattles when opening and closing the boot so I'd rather get it sorted if possible. Is this something a reasonable body shop could fix or do you think it's best to leave it alone especially considering it's electric?

Thanks,

Luke

Or just didn't want to remove the covers to do a proper job ☠️

On another note we had a screen smash on us a good while ago, Autoglass stripped the dash to gain entry to the air vents, then they cleaned out all the piping of glass that could be blown into our faces, son got his side window smashed last year, they took everything off the door and used a hoover with a long nozzle and sucked out all the glass.

Makes absolutely no difference, access wise whether its manual or power. Its a case of removing the trim panels and vacuuming it all out. Will probably take an age though. Every time you think you've got it all, another bit works its way loose and rattles around
