Coolant cap replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Twisting off my coolant cap and can see that the bottom half of the cap is stuck in the tank.

I've looked online and it seems to be a common issue with these cars. My question is that once I manage to pry out the remainder of the cap, which cap do I replace it with?

I've had a look on eBay and I'm not sure what the difference is between some of the tank caps. Does anyone know which exact one to get to replace the coolant tank cap for a fiesta style 1.25l 2013?

Hi,

These were always rubbish. Ford have updated them since your car was built. I think it should now be this part, even though it says 2015 on.

If you send them a message with your reg, they should be able to confirm.

Thanks, have messaged them

When you get the new cap, grease the rubber rings so it never happens again.

Cap got stuck on ours, Ford replaced it during a service, a few years on I went to top up the tank, cap yet again stuck fast, advised to put grease on the rubber rings and inside the rim of the tank, never seized up since.

Happened to my sons car & daughter in laws car, it happens to every ford going mad2

Silicone Grease is the best for that. I did that once when my car was new over 6 years ago and it still comes off easily now.
