2004 Fiesta - 14" Wheels. Can I use 15" Wheels

Featured Replies

I have pretty tired old Fiesta and as a result of degraded and leaking wheel I found some alloys but they're 15 inch they are original Fiesta alloys i'm just not sure if there are any specific changes that need to be made in order to run 15 inch wheels on a 14 factory car. I imagine there aren't but I'm just double checking Advice appreciated thank you.

What matters is a list of things, but some should be ok if they are Ford wheels.

What should be ok are:

PCD and Centre bore

What you need to check:

Offset, width, and tyre size - use this website to compare your existing wheel/tyre combo with anything you want to fit instead.

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/

Good luck.

We have had two Fiesta of this ilk, both with 15" alloys, so should be OK if Ford. Standard tyre size for 15" alloys would be 195/50 15.

My view is that the 15" alloy is a better choice than the 16" alloys on the 02-08 ZS

Can you post any images ?

PS. You should have a decal, probably on the "B" post listing possible tyre sizes and relevant pressures.

Thanks Paul, I didn't think it through really. I went and bought them but I guess I can return them if I need to, only from a scrappers.

The wheels are decent condition, but when you're on a budget and you've 4 relatively new 14" tyres on the car, for new 15" tyres is a bit of a stretch on top of the alloy cost when the car isn't worth a lot.

The insurance issue is another matter which we haven't really dealt with yet. It's a modification technically. Need to call them.

Slightly hard to read but there's some info here. I'll have a look for a decal.

This is excellent thanks, I'm not sure where to look for the info on the alloys themselves, is it the decal Paulkp mentions? I guess so.
I called a decent local Alloy Specialist, who as look would have it runs an ST. He told me all the 4 bolts are basically the same in terms of clearances and that I should be absolutely fine.

Sorry Paul this just clicked, I'll check the B post...

Info on centre of wheel there seems right. Seems to match data on the Rim n Tyre calc. That's good news.

Your photo shows the wheel's width - 6J, and the wheel's offset - 32.5mm I think.

Often this data is on the back face of an alloy.

Find your existing wheel width and offset, and putting all the data into the website I posted you can see the differences.

As they are both Ford and you are only going up an inch, you should be ok, but - issues arise if the offset and width differences together are too great, and the wheel sticks out too much and fouls the arches, or sticks in too much and fouls the suspension.

Thanks, I am really confused to be honest. I found that right car on the list, the 1.4l.

I cleaned the rear of the alloy and here's the info.

Nothing relating to 32mm, unless it's 50m, as stated in the above image?

  • Author

There's no listed offset range in the options below the OE wheel but I assume anything meeting the alternate displayed measurements is compatible with the factory option. I think the 50mm in the following image tallies with the 195/50 in the above list but the wheels I have have 195/55 tyres on them.

I think I need some further guidace but I'll see if I can put what I have into the calc.

The wheel calc is really confusing as well.
It gives you the option to add wheels to the tyre calc but I can't see how to apply and trigger the calc. screen anywhere.

Is there an apply and calculate button anywhere?

I've manually added what I think are the correct options based on what I have but I've had to estimate rim width based on web results.
It suggested ideal as 185 but optional as 195

They look like these.

The "05" in the starburst and the dots show the year and month that those wheels were manufactured.

Ah I see, thanks so May 05 according to my above photo.

Yes they do look like that.

I've just realised when you said the B Post you meant the car not the wheel.

Nothing on there relating to wheel sizes sadly. All I know is there was an option for a 15" wheel on my model.

There's usually one on each B post - normally one has the info you pictured, the other side has the tyre info.

If you go to the Talkford forum, you can download old brochures, including one for the Mk 6 Fiesta, which shows tyre/wheel sizes and may be of help:
