Wet belt with major or minor service?

Featured Replies

I know this topic has been covered before in similar discussions but I could do with a second opinion please.

Welt belt replacement with major or minor service? Last year I had a minor service?

I'm on 68k miles on a 18 plate ST Line. Of course the main dealer is suggesting the 8 year service which is a major service. Should I just go for a minor service again and do the major service next year?

Only advantage is they have offered me £100 off the service if I do it at the same time as the wet belt replacement.

If you have an extended warranty on the car then you should really stick to the scheduled services to avoid any potential warranty get-outs in future. If you don't then you can choose whatever service you want.

As 8 years is classed as major here, I assume that means it's on 2-yearly servicing? In that case, it definitely needs an oil change at the same time as the wetbelt change, which means you either have to go for the major service, or switch to the Essential Service if no reason to keep using the Scheduled Services. You could ask for a minor service plus an oil change but that'll most likely cost more than just having the major service which includes the oil change.

If you do choose to stop Scheduled Servicing and switch to Essential Services then I would still recommend adding spark plugs and Air Filter every 4 years.
