Which awning? low/med/high

Featured Replies

I have a partially converted Ford Transit 280 LWB. Mrs wants an awning for it but we're not sure what category it sits in. The awnings are sold as low/med/high, that I assume refers to roof height?? Any help appreciated.

Thanks folks

Hi,

You are correct it refers to the roof height. But not the top of the roof. It's the height from awning attachment points down to the ground.

Low awnings tend to be about 2 metres high.

Medium is roughly 2 to 2.5 metres.

High is roughly 2.5 to 3 metres.

Standard Transit is likely to be low but you'll need to measure it to confirm.

Telta (and perhaps others) have a range that includes one's suitable for caravans, campervans (drive away).
They also have a zip system that allows adjustment to multiple heights (or different heights end to end.

They have multiple quality ranges too. Just bought one for caravan (after two second hand ones eventually fell apart)
It's the change of season so perhaps best to check with local supplier to see if there's any difference between any last years stock (a deal) and any new prices;

Check or query for others, always wise to ask suppliers to see what they suggest?

Just to tie this off (sorry for camping pun?)
For those interested, this video gives good advice on pitching (that's not in the instructions):
