Water coming into the cabin 2011 1.4 TDCi

Featured Replies

Hi all I wonder if anyone could help me with some advice or pointers for the above. Before Christmas we noticed the passenger seat was very wet and it starts to dry but more rain and it’s wet. Back half of the squab and lower bit of the backrest soaked. Floor is dry. Spare wheel well had some cloths in it and there were soaked but not a swimming pool. Trained a hose all around the car and with a torch can’t see water coming into anywhere. I’ve run out of ideas, you’d think that given how wet the seat is you’d see it pouring in 🤯.

Kind regards

Paul.

Does it have a sunroof?

No sunroof, ive just checked the drain holes in the doors one wasn’t flowing so pushed a metre long brush up there . I still can’t see that causing the issue but it’s something.

I can't see how water could come up from the floor or across from the door to reach the passenger seat.

Only thing that would make sense is dripping from above. If no sunroof then possibly the overhead console or top corner of windscreen.

Yes I totally agree with you. I’d expect to see it dripping from up above. But we gave it a right old soaking targeting screen, seals etc and not a drop. None of it makes any sense if it wasn’t for the seat i would be thinking it’s creeping in from a door seal or screen , drainage tube etc .. it’s not even damp it’s sodden and the car stinks
