Intermittent Immobilizer Fault

Featured Replies

Hi

Fiesta mk 6.5 2008 1.25 Style

Ime having an intermittent fault with the immobilizer. (Flashing immobilizer light) It eventually starts after multiple attempts.

Codes B1601 and U2510

Currently replaced the car battery and key battery.

Also ordered a replacement ignition switch transponder coil which also has a ignition switch. (Second hand eBay) Which is arriving this week.

Has anybody had any luck fixing this problem as the car is totally unreliable with this happening?

Any ideas would be very appreciated

Many thanks

Both those codes relate to PATS issues

Changing the remote battery in a non keyless car doesn't affect anything, that's just for the remote functionality

Try ensuring the main 12v battery is in good condition before you start throwing parts at it as low voltage can cause these issues

But it's probably either the transponder ring, yes or the key is going down.

Do you have a spare key? Does it happen when you use that?

Maku sure there isn't too much irrelevant metal rubbish on your keyring as well, that ca block signals

Thanks Dave,

Will try swapping the transponder ring this weekend and see if that cures the problem.

12v battery is a brand new Bosch and fully charged. Spare key doesn't help.

Again thanks for your help

Update

I swapped the immobilizer ring and the ignition switch from a breaker on eBay.

Touch wood, this has cured the problem and the car is starting perfectly.

Many Thanks

Chris
