ABS Module Upgrade question from H1BC to M1BC hardware ver.

Featured Replies

Has anyone every upgraded or changed their ABS module from the first revision of hardware which is H1BC and swapped it out for a newer M1BC model?

On my last car i had it swapped out (old Audi) and it was literally just unbolt, fit new, bleed job done.

Im now being told on modern cars, and Fiesta MK8 in particular i need special software UCDS in order to program it to my car and have it work so question is... can i swap it myself, then drive to a garage for it programming or am i better taking part to a garage and getting them to swap, bleed and program it to the car?

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated on this.

More importantly, why are you wanting to do this?

What will the braking improvements be from a H1BC to a M1BC?

I think it's the reason why pre collision braking is not working for me when I added it to my car.

Another side effect of the new module is that it may also add 5 drive modes to the car but I don't care much about that.

I am also in the process of adding adaptive cruise control and it may be needed for that also. I have the radar module, bracket, wiring loom and steering switch. I like OEM fully working so want to upgrade ABS module too.

Well! Well! Slightly off topic but just took our car for it's MOT, we've noticed for a few weeks that under hard braking it pulls to the left, normal braking it's fine, chap in the garage said the ABS pump is on its way out, only working on the left, he said.. just can't buy another and fit it as each one has to be programmed to the relevant car, so mine has got to be took off & repaired then refitted back to the car.......More money to shell out.

from what im now reading after asking the question is ford can do it but they wont do a replacement module, only one they sell you. I do have a couple of Ford specialists near me maybe i can pay them to swap/ fit or just program the module. ill ask for a quote and see.
