Keep or sell this 2013 ecoboost? Opinions?

Featured Replies

Its a 2013 1.0 ecoboost fiesta and about 3 years ago, long story short it got a brand new engine, radiator and fuel pump that the dealer paid for. I've made sure to replace the oil with the correct spec every year (I do about 4000 miles in a year). However i've been thinking about swapping cars recently as I feel like it might be safer to dip out soonish just in case I get unlucky with the wetbelt. I do very short journeys to work every day which I am guessing wont help the belt but I do take it on longer drives on weekends. On top of this the car is rusting from the inside out on the rear of the sill so thats something I will have to deal with at some point. Another point for selling it is maybe the car will be more marketable with the new engine and full service history? Not really sure on that one though. On the flip side I could buy another car and run into issues with it. However I'd probobly go for something with a reliable engine this time lol. I dont really have to carry anything so I would kinda like to buy a roadster like an MX5 or something. Just thought I'd get some opinions on here.

Over the years I've always found that rust is the real car killer, so depends how bad the Fiesta is, I guess. I've certainly been seeing a lot of 10 year old and over Mk 7s rotting badly in the rear sill area lately.

Beware of rust on earlier models of MX 5, also:

Yeah, if its isolated to the rear sill though I imagine it can be welded if it ends up needing it? The rest of the underside is quite clean apart from a couple of spots on the exhaust. Also yeah I am aware of the rust issues on mx5s, id look for an enthusiast garage kept example. Apparently even the newest mk4s are showing rust

👌🏻

That gets my vote, go for the 2.0 Sport, you won't regret it

Yes, one of my neighbours has an immaculate 56 plate. Only leaves the garage.when the sun is shining - so not often!😀
