Yet Another TPMS Issue

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I had a TPMS error on dashboard, I obtained the reset tool, performed the reprogramming step to see which sensor was bad, found Right Rear. Replaced the sensor. I then performed the reset/reprogramming again, still does not set the Right Rear the TPMS sensor.

The one I removed had the square symbol, the one I fitted had the square symbol.

I assumed that I destroyed the new sensor somehow when installing and so purchased another sensor. This time I decided to test the sensor before installing, it is still not detected.

Does anyone know what the issue could be? I am on the verge of just disabling the TPMS via Forscan. Is there a method of using ForScan to see what type the other sensors or maybe there is something more required to be done to reprogram the sensor. Could it be that both of the new sensors I purchased (from different suppliers) have dead batteries?

The car is 2016 Fiesta.

Thanks.

Havingthe same problem did you purchase Genuine Ford ones? I didn’t and was told they would work mine is also a 2016, I might try and delete through Forscan

I don't think the first one was genuine Ford, but the 2nd one I have has FoMoCo printed on it.

The pn/code on the one I removed: EV6T-1A180-CB / EV6T-1A180-CC

I am fairly certain that the code on the first I installed was EV6T-1A180-DC / EV6T-1A180-DB

The code on the FoMoCo one I have ready to go in is: EV6T-1A180-CB / EV6T-1A180-CB

I might fit this one and see if it works, if not I will then just disable with Forscan. I am not sure if the sensor can be programmed to the car without it being installed. It doesn't seem to "wake up" when doing the relearn before fitting it.

Sensors are generally woken by the pressure inside a tyre.

Thanks TomsFocus.

The new sensor must be programmed with its own unique identifier number.

This is done by some manufacturers, but many vendors cannot confirm . (It cannot be done with the activating tool that you have, nor on Forscan)

Some suppliers will undertake this for you before supply, but don't expect it on the £5 cheap sensors! Some vendors charge £40 per sensor. Some tyre fitters have a garage quality tool that will do it, but they charge it as part of their £65+ service.

(The best price I found was £15 total from INVIOST who will advise on the exact sensor that you need).

It will then need fitting and the vehicle will need to be put into Training mode (a process that does vary by make/model of vehicle, but is simple although tempermental about the exact sequence and timings of the required actions) before using your activation tool to complete the "handshake" pairing between sensor & car. Finally the car display will need reseting to record the new measurements, in the same way that should be done after a tyre reinflation.

Just for completion--the activating tool (about £7)has at least two different internal transmission specs,& must also be compatible with the sensor specs that vary with vehicle make/model/year & specification..So be careful when purchasing, as there are also differing US & Europe sensor standards for car manufacturers..

The battery in it must be good quality and well charged as the activation transmission drains it quickly..

Obviously the one mentioned on this thread is OK as it was used to identify the faulty sensor.
