MK8 Park Assit sensor locations

Does anyone know what the measurements might be for fitting of the front and rear side parking assist modules? My bumper doesn't have the etchings on the back where the holes need to be.

Looking online at cars that have it, it does look like they go in-line with the top edge of the wheel rims (not the tyres)

Yeah, that's all you can do, copy a car with them fitted

I might take 4 sheets of paper to a car park or garage for court and make an etching round the edges with my fingers 😂 be quicker than taking measurements.

Not really sure how else to do it.

Ever do any brass rubbing as a kid? 😄

Seriously though, don't measure it to wheel rims unless both cars have the same size wheels, same engine (weight) and same suspension. There must be a more accurate way to do it than that.

The best way would have been if Ford had marked the back of the every bumper with all the PDC outlines ready for hole cutting but sadly they didn't.

I'm not even sure how critical it is, can it be 1 CM out and still be OK? I've bought a special PDC cutter too which makes flush mounted holes so I can do it so it looks OEM professional. Be a shame to cut the bumper and then have it not work lol

I've spent a week making a loom up with the extra side sensors so needs to be absolutely OEM perfect.

I don't know how accurate these sensors need to be unfortunately.

I'd be more concerned about it looking daft if the sensors are slightly out of alignment with each other. I don't think the actual height will be that critical as long as they're all at the same height.

Height I can probably do easier because I can use a string and because it's only the side ones you've not got alot to compare with to be honest. I've grabbed some bumper pics from eBay to scrutinize.

In the end I made a rubbing from a car using paper for front and rear and then used that template for my car.

Extremely happy with the OEM look and finish and all works perfectly too front and rear parking on screen with side markers.

i done the rear one to mine, bought se sensors, wiring loom and parking aid module on ebay.

the pdc holder if I'm not wrong, they are the same mounted on vw, audi, skoda, or at least now I can confirm that they fits perfectly, and also the rubber that goes around PDC ( if not included) found them on aliexpress for few dollars ( pdc holder and rubbers).

for the holes, my bumper was already marked on the rear where to drill the hole, and so was the front one.

coded via forscan and worked just fine, with visual radar on the screen also

for me was typically plug and play as the oem loom was present on the car

What's the part number of the parking sensor mounts, would be good to know for others benefits.
