Cataclean probs

Featured Replies

Hi i recently used Cataclean fuel additive and now my car is has jerky acceleration and going into the garage. No lights on the dash two different obd scanners found no problems.Ive read it could be larger bits of carbon deposits cataclean breaks down blocking fuel filter or injectors.Has anyone had experience of using this stuff. It has a good rep.

What cataclean did you use?

DPF cleaner? Or petrol cat cleaner?

I've noticed with cataclean they do 3 versions, Petrol, Hybrid and diesel, but when you read the bottle, they all say can be used in Petrol, Hybrid or diesel.

Seems the formula is the same on all cataclean.

Why are there "dodgy" links embedded in the original post - please remove?

"We" don't necessarily believe that basic OBD scanners capture Ford specific codes and the the live data that is also available to continue diagnosis.
I think "We" also recommend Archoil (certainly for diesels).
You problem may be a total coincidence but still needs investigating as I doubt (willing to be convinced with evidence) that massive amounts of carbon are removed, by anything chemical related?
And, I don't believe there is any carbon in fuel system before the injector nozzles, yes there'll be dirt captured in the filter.
When was the fuel filter last changed?

The forum does th.is if you put a full stop then 2 lette.rs that could be a country co.de for a webpa.ge.

Its most annoying! I've also found whole words or phrases underlined seemingly at random without doing that and can't find a way to remove it. Is (there it goes again!) this something similar?

I haven't seen any whole words without fullstops so far but will keep an eye out for that.

At least that link thing is explained, meanwhile, back at @Red Tommy 's query (or is he a OPW on this?)...

I hope not.

He's done 12 posts, that's why I answered

I did mention on THIS topic...But he hasn't been back since Wednesday and you normally react well before that? 😉

Hope he comes back soon to answer all the points above

Hi i used petrol type of cleaner. As it turns out it wasnt cataclean but worn spark plugs that was causing the jerky acceleration.Just co incidence with the timing. The plugs were black, cheap rubbish too.Now got ngk ones in.The car now actually moves when you accelerate!

I am not surprised that they are black. Spark plugs (excuse the Americanism) take quite a beating in the TDci engine, so I'm told ;-)

There's a mystery...?

He's possibly talking about the 1.25 petrol which, from other posts, he also apparently owns?
