Losing power under load, No codes. Found a non-standard hose

Featured Replies

I’ve got a 2015 fiesta mk7.5 ecoboost that’s losing power under load(feels like loss of boost), and I’ve had no error codes appear. I’ve found a non standard vacuum hose that traces from the turbo actuator to a plastic T-piece connector (clearly a bodge job) that then joins onto the boost control solenoid line?

I’m just wondering how much of the line/piping I’m needing to change to hopefully solve the issue. Or if anyone knows the actual OEM part number for the entire line itself ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

That is not a bodge job, but a poorly executed install of an uprated recirculation valve. Based on the pictures it looks like the Turbosmart recirculation valve.

The brass piston type Turbosmart recirculation valve is well-known upgrade for the poor-quality original rubber membrane type recirculation valve. The Turbosmart recirculation valve comes with a slightly larger diameter hose and T-piece to improve valve response significantly.

That T-piece however is not needed on every 1.0 EcoBoost. I installed quite a few of these recirculation valves on a Focus MK3/MK3.5 and on those the T-piece is not needed. On the Focus, you can just replace the original hose with the larger diameter Turbosmart hose. However, on the Fiesta MK7.5 the T-piece seems to be required.

The uprated Turbosmart recirculation valve however is not completely maintenance free. It needs to be disassembled, cleaned and oiled annually. Since the Turbosmart recirculation valve can easily be disassembled in situ, this is basically a 10-minute job.

If you want to go back to the original setup, you need the original membrane type recirculation valve and the full set of vacuum hoses.

Almost GBP 400 in parts and a considerate chance that this will not fix the issue.

Or it's had a boost gauge fitted at some point?
