Opinion on buying a new fiesta

Featured Replies

Considering buying a 17 plate Fiesta 1L 100bhp, has 60k miles and is listed for 3k, has a full service history but since the wetbelt will need doing soon is it worth buying even at that price

If you can get the wetbelts done reliably and locally for around £1000 then it is a good price. (Assuming it's got the spec you want and decent paint/bodywork).

2017 is the very last of the Mk7s though. If you can get a Mk8, just a few months newer, for not much more cost, that would be a better option in my opinion.

Is it a mk8 or a Mk7? The Mk 8, especially in the higher spec versions is a very fine car. If it is cheap enough to get the belts changed and it hasn't been put on big wheels, then I would consider it money well spent.

Good question. Most likely to be a Mk 7 but the Mk 8 was launched here in 2017 and Autocar 's original Mk 8 road test was actually a 17 plated car.

Purely personal opinion as ever, but I still feel the Mk 7.5 was more fun to drive, while the Mk 8 is a more rounded car. Can't really lose either way.

We're seeing quite a few posts about rust on earlier Mk7s lately, so check carefully for signs.A friend of mine got the belts done for around £1,000 on a 9 year old car at his trusted independent garage - still going strong.
