Lower control arm replacement - a follow up.

Featured Replies

I wasn't happy with the car having changed the arms. There was severe torque steer and camber adjusting bolts and toe adjustment nearly got it right but I could still feel a twitch. I had a strong suspicion that the left arm was bent. This afternoon, I fitted another. I replaced the camber bolt with the original non adjustable one and undid the tracking adjustment. The car is back to its sweet self and on examining the two arms, one a Quinton Hazell which is a make I have never been let down by and the one I changed which was all I could get a couple of weeks ago, a Ridex. The Ridex metal is about two thirds of the thickness of the QH and the dimensional accuracy is somewhat lacking. And it's bent. I won't be buying that brand again and I would not be reccommending that others do either.

Good to know. Always avoided Ridex when buying, but no experience of them. Will continue avoiding. Clearly the time needed to do the job twice isn't worth the saving.
