Fiesta The washer doesn't work

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a problem with my fiesta. The front and rear washer does not work. Every time the fuse blows. The harness has been checked in the engine compartment, everything is fine. The shifter has been replaced with a new one. Where else can I look for the cause?

Sorry for my poor English.

the washer pump itself is dead

The pump is new. Even when the pump is disconnected, the fuse is burning

Then there is a short circuit. Does the fuse blow when you put it in or only when you operate the washer switch? Normally this sort of fault happens when a wire gets rubbed away by or pulled through the bodywork where the wiring flexes. Check the wiring at the boot end. If the fuse blows all the time fault is between the fuse and the switch. If it only blows when you operate the switch, then it is between the switch and the motor.

Absolutely.

Check the wiring back from the pump, there is a cut/damaged wire somewhere

It burns out only when using washers. Not immediately after inserting.

The wires from the pump to the cabin have been checked and are good I have not seen any abrasions. Where else is it worth checking?

All the engine bay, both wires from the pump to wherever they start

The car may have had a bump and damaged the wires

The wires in the engine compartment are good. Where else to look?

Test continuity of both wires and trace break

There is a short circuit somewhere on the wire but I can't locate the place. Is there any point where it can be?

Somewhere along the cable to the washer or maybe in the plug but you may have to unwrap the loom all the way to the fault.

Does anyone have a diagram of the wires going to the pump from the comfort module? Maybe it would be easier to add two new wires if they only go to the pump?

You are still going to have to route those wires back to the origin. you know there is one short but not if there are any more. You really need to just separate the wires until you find the short.

I think it will be easier to run two new wires.

I have been tracing a similar problem wire colours are Blue/White Purple/Green and go to the BCM on the large Blue plug an the same wire colours. You can run new cables but it will not be easy might be better to trace the short.

Do you know where the short circuit was?

Yes, Wojas and you have been told several times already. The work will not do itself and YOU will have to put in some effort yourself because we cannot find the short circuit by magic. You will have to unwrap the loom yourself, all the way to the fault. There are no short cuts and no more questions to ask. You have been told what you need to do and if you cannot do it then get somebody else to do it.

As mentioned above, unplug both the Blue and White BCM connectors and check for any signs of corrosion between the pins, it would probably be best to remove the BCM to inspect properly.
Ford wiring diagrams change frequently so if you can give the fuse number that blows and wiring colours of the pump wiring that might help locate a suitable wiring diagram.

Tak, Wojasie, i tobie już kilka razy to mówiono. Praca sama się nie zrobi i TY będziesz musiał włożyć trochę wysiłku, bo nie znajdziemy zwarcia magicznie. Będziesz musiał sam rozwinąć krosno, aż do usterki. Nie ma skrótów ani pytań do zadawania. Powiedziano ci, co masz zrobić, a jeśli nie potrafisz, poproś kogoś innego.

The harness has been checked in the engine compartment and there is no fault anywhere I have already written about it before....
