Oil on outside of silencer

Featured Replies

Just noticed oil on my fiesta ecoboost silencer. Engine is running fine an d oil level is normal. Any ideas?

Hi,

Which part are you calling the silencer? The exhaust backbox? They do have a small hole at the bottom to allow condensation to drain out. It does get black from exhaust soot.

Yes its the back box on the weld seam. Read it could be caused by a blocked p c v valve. I took the oil filler cap off when running and it makes a nasty noise

The 1.0 EcoBoosts all sound awful with the oil cap off. Youtube is full of videos to compare with yours.

Oil can't reach the backbox from the PCV. It would be burnt inside the engine. I don't think there is a fault here. Just sooty condensation dripping from the backbox.
