Mk6: TI-VCT to Metal: any other verified OEM differences?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Planning a remap on my Euro 1.6 Ti-VCT (120 hp) to get closer to the Metal / Zetec S / S1600 (134 PS), and I want to bolt on relevant OEM parts that can help with that. Theres a metal sitting at a breaker not too far away- before i head to the there I've cross-referenced part numbers on partsouq.

Here's where I've landed:

Confirmed unique to the Metal (different part numbers):

Appear identical (no unique part number on both):

  • Throttle body

  • Intake manifold

  • Exhaust manifold (with integrated cat)

  • Exhaust headers

  • Exhaust up-pipe

...So : Anyone got a Metal in front of them who can confirm/deny, or know of relevant parts I haven't checked?

The airbox looks visually identical in photos despite the different part number - anyone know what's actually changed inside? Matches evo uk's mention of a "new low-loss intake," but I can't see it. Also not sure what the fuel damper assembly would add for benefit.

Topic's come up before but I couldn't find concrete answers.

Cheers!

Hi,

Long time ago now but it was said at the time that the Metal** was virtually as the Mountune MP140 conversion with a slightly quieter exhaust.

Afaik Mountune just used a panel filter (which I think was actually made by K & N) in the normal airbox.

(** and the second run of the S1600)
