Rusted rear wheel arch lip

Featured Replies

Hello folks.

I have a problem with rust on my rear wheel arch, the back body part that joins onto the wheel arch, the lip there is rusted out.

I don’t have a welder but was wondering if I could repair this with fibreglass filler and spare metal from an old wing as my mot is in a month and I can’t afford the body shop.

I have uploaded a picture of the bit, the body rust would be easy, just the lip (what is the proper name for that bit) is the problem, could I just leave that bit off? Thanks for any help.

Looks like the rust is coming from the inside out there 🫣Remove the the wheel arch liner and see what's happening on the inside. You don't have any water leaks into the boot do you? If you do, it will find it's way down inside there and rust from the inside out and be worse than what it looks from the outside. A filler/fibreglass repair will just mask the problem for a year or so.

Thanks, I’ll do that, I did do the other side with fibreglass and metal filler 3 years ago, after treating the inside with rust converter and epoxy primer, still looks like new.

So I’ll try the same for this bit, thanks
