any chassis or suspension mounting point corrosion etc always worries me.

i wouldnt worry about the bush too much, these can be replaced or better still the whole arm can be replaced (about £30 for an aftermarket arm)

Would you advise me to not go ahead with this purchase and keep looking?

my personal opinion would be to walk away, but in saying that all ka's of this age (and newer) suffer with corrosion problems.

once a car needs welding, thats enough for me to say no or to get rid of but each to their own.

if the floor is corroding then there is a defo leak somewhers m8

the arm is an easy job to do but rear suspension all i would do as it's an advisary is wire brush it off then seal it with under seal

depending where the rust is.

all ka's rust m8 especially around the filler cap & rear ceals

if it's a good price & you like it then go for it or atleast take someone that knows cars with you to look at it on your behalf.

I can have it for £525 + my gf's crashed written off fiesta which I think is a good price. I'll take my mechanic brother to take a look at it.

Is it possible to fix the corrosion problems above with a bit of welding? if so what kind of cost would we be talking?

cheers

When was the advisory's given ie: when was the last mot? I bought a ka knowing it wanted new sill's and after checking the car over fully for it's mot it took two weeks worth of welding :o :o , floor, sills, inner sills, rear chassi, rear end panel all needed welding. For £525 I would say walk away as there could be a lot more to the advisory than meets the eye if you know what I mean.

Forgot to add, check under the rear wheel arches aswell.

MOT was passed on 1st November 2010 so has 11 months MOT

I would definately walk away, even though it has passed this year, the corrosion will possibly get worse and then maybe cost even more than the car is worth to repair, im sure you can find a more decent one for your money buddy.

Just heard back from the seller:

Anto: How bad is the corrosion on the KA that came up during the MoT

Seller: Very little just surface stuff no holes etc it wants waxoiling or similar underneath its only an advisory

thoughts?

Cheers

i have seen just how bad ka's can rust, and i very much doubt its just 'surface rust. i would weigh up your options but as said above the amount of welding it may need could be more than the value of the car.

i would say £525 plus the damaged car is probably more than its worth anyway tbh - scrap car are worth about £100-£150? up here they are giving £150 for any car providing you can get it to them..

i think you could find more car for the money
