Escort 1.8D Van Fuel Problems No Primer

Featured Replies

Hopefully someone can help or I can pay to fix the problem!!

I brought an Escort 1.8D (m reg) about 3 months ago. Everything was ok for 2 months then i ran out of fuel. I was told its nightmare to start diesels when you run out fuel and that it would take a while to start again. I put diesel in it and constantly turned it over and nothing, had to charge the battery twice but still nothing. I cheked the fuel filter and its completley empty. I looked on the forums for advice and it seemed i may need to prime the fuel.. There is'nt one!!

Any suggestions/advice would be really appreciated. Or if anyone knows of a garage which could sort this out in Reading, berks.

thanks

lee

Fill the fuel filter withh diesel before You fit it......

The fuel primer is on the right hand side of the engine, you will see fuel lines going into it, pump it a few times.

Then crack off the pipes going to the injectors (One at a time) and as you turn the engine over you will see the diesel coming to the injectors

Thanks for the reply.

I'll try that tomorrow.... can i just put the diesel in via the little screw in cap on the bottom of the filter?

cheers
