Ford Ka Water Leak - W Plate

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm a bit of newcomer to the whole 'have a go at fixing your car yourself' thing (Only having replaced spark plugs and battery so far), but my W Plate (2000) Ka has a water leak and I thought it would be a relatively straightforward job to replace the pump - this seems to be the most likely cause from what I can tell.

So - I'm hoping that someone on this board has some experience with the job and, if so, my questions are...

Approximately how long would it take to do the job?

What kit am I going to need (it doesn't look immediately obvious to me where the pump is, so I suspect it's either underneath or on the side of the engine)

How do I drain (and replace) the coolant (I'm assuming a 50/50 mix of coolant and water will be needed?)

I expect I'll need a Haynes manual to actually show me how to do it (unless someone here is feeling espeially helpful and can jot down some guidelines), but I was firstly hoping for a bit of guidance before deciding whether this would be a good starting point for my nascent engineering career :)

Thanks in advance for anyone's help with this...
