1.25 - 1.6

Featured Replies

Hi there I currently have a 1.25 fiesta finesse (zetec s look) and I want to put the 1.6 lump in now as I have completed the look just need the engine, I know it is just a straight swap and I can use the same gearbox but what about all the other bits? E.g alternator, pullys, radiator and so on, basically everything apart from the lump it's self, will I be able to use all the same stuff or will I need zetec s parts?

Thanks Reece

I'm not too sure on this conversion, but i have a feeling you may need some of the zetec S parts.

I hope you realise you will most probably need the engine wiring loom and the ECU as well as the PATS system that belongs to the ECU

Won't I be able to use the same loom and just get it remapped? Or will I need all different electrics and brain?

Thanks Reece

I dont think so.

Its the same with the Escort, if you want to go from the 1.6 to the 1.8 or 2.0. You can use the original ECU but it dont run right and is flat, plug in the correct ECU and your away.

Ah ok mate have to get that then, not sure about the rest of the boys though been looking but can't find anything that says about changing any of the other parts, does any1 known if I have to change any of the little bits like alternator radiator etc

Thanks reece

Best thing to do is get a MOT failure and have the whole car as a donor, swap everything you need over, then scrap the shell for some money back

That's the thing that will be expensive to get a donor car that's my shape, its cheaper with the old shape but it ain't a straight swap then because the mounts are different, really need to know if it will use my component or not or I will get a the whole lot instead of just the block

Thanks reece
