Hello, just bought a nice mk6 escort gti on a '98 plate with 92k on the clock and the usual gripes associated with a car of this age after years of abuse . a few running problems and some rust on the back arches. the up side is a nice half leather interior and it still gives the kiddies a run for their money :D

A few years ago I always one of those--never had one though--closest I got was an 83 Y XR3i which was my pride and joy at the time then I progressed to a 86 C Fiesta XR2. They were quite quick as well but I still wasn't satisfied so I bought an 87 D RS Turbo Escort which went really well! Unfortunately it attracted a lot of unwelcome attention so I exchanged it for probably my favourite car of that era--a beautiful black 88 E Orion injection ghia.

Maybe I'd have kept that if it hadn't have been stolen from right outside the factory where I worked at the time.

Needless to say, I was gutted!!!

With those cars you had to rely on your driving skills as there were no electronic aids to get you out of trouble.
