Central Locking

I've got a problem with the central locking not working. I have done the test to confirm all door ajar and set/reset sensors are working, but still have the problem that only one door attempts to lock when I operate the drivers door lock. I suspect the motors are faulty, but first can I ask if anyone knows why the Haynes manual seems to locate the door ajar sensors are part of the lock inside the door, but I have sensors on the strike plate that do the same thing. Are there two sensors? If so, my test my have only been testing those on the strike plate,which all work.
