Mystery Nokia Box

Featured Replies

Hi,

After reading around forums on whether my car would or wouldn't having the wiring for a USB connection I decided to take the glove box out and have a look. Up under the dash is a 3.5" sized box with nokia written on it. Wasn't expecting to that and want to know what it is.

THe wiring for the 3.5mm jack seems to have another bunch of wires taped to it. Are they the wires for the USB or are they just some other "random wiring"

picture attached if this lets me upload

It's the handsfree kit as manufactured by Nokia (before they left Bochum and Novero picked up the pieces).

I don't think Ford puts the (expensive, as shielded) USB wiring in cars that don't have the option, but if they did, it would at least be connected to the handsfree box (it is used for reflashing the unit, even if it is the one without MP3/USB playback). If there is no (mini-) USB jack on your (Nokia) box your car was produced before the introduction of the USB option, and will not have the USB cable anway.
