2008 Mondeo Bonnet Won't Lock Closed

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I hope someone can help me. Yesterday I opened the bonnet on my 58 plate Mondeo tdci to fill up the washers. Now the bonnet won't lock closed. The first catch which you can release with the front lever works, but the second more secure one doesn't lock. I have tried many times to get it closed, but no joy, I have not been too aggressive with it as I don't want to damage the bonnet alarm sensor.

I have to drive to Gatwick tomorrow and don't want to go on the motorway like this. Also the alarm and second stage door locks won't work as the bonnet sensor reports it is open, so not secure enough to leave in an airport car park.

I am hoping it is just stuck open and there is an easy way to release it, but not really sure what to look for.

Many thanks for any help

Dave
