Ka Lighting

Featured Replies

Hello!

So, I have just had the MOT and the KA has failed... It's just cost me a small fee of £600 to get sorted but the last thing on the list of problems is the left side Full Beam isnt working at all! All other lights on the passengers side (dipped/driving lights/Indicators) along with everything on the drivers side are all working.

I have checked all the fuses that relate to the left/right lights and I believe the switch as well. All fuses are OK and bulb has been changed.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so what was the fix?

All comments welcome

Thanks!

Alex

Hi Welcome to the forum,

this may sound stupid, but have you checked the fuse box in the engine bay close to the battery aswell as the fuse box inside the car?

no i havent. i will check tomorrow am. i take it there are fuses there as well for the lighting ?

yeah should be relays also.

one for each headlight unit, the map of the fuse box should be printed under the lid mate

If not as Lenny suggested, the new bulb could be faulty. You can try swapping them around to check if this is the case.

Thanks for all the replies. It wasn't the bulb and wasn't the fuse or the relay! It was however the back cover had been lost years ago by the previous owner which meant all the water got into the unit and corroded the inside (I couldnt see this) I went up to the scrappy and bought another unit for £30 and fitted it myself. It works and has now passed, I probably saved £80-90 for not taking it to a mechanic.

That Great news,

had you took it to ford though the part you required may have only come along with a loom costing up to £200

and then labour charges on top of that could be another £100, as ford wont buy from the scrapyard.

Also a great boost of confidence to be able to solve the problem yourself,

I’m sure every time you drive past the garage/Mechanic you will smile thinking of the money you saved yourself.

thanks for the update.B)
