Transit Connect Headlights

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I know I could be onto plumbs here, but i'll try anyway before going forum hopping.

We have a 2009 Transit Connect MK1 which I think has an issue with full beam.

In my Focus, when I flash the lights, that puts the lights at their brightest, yes?

In the Connect, if I flash the lights, this is the same.

In my Focus, my full beam brightness is just as bright as the headlight flash, in the van, however, the light pattern does change and the lights appear to cover a wider angle, they just do not get any brighter. Having watched it against a wall,I can confirm the pattern does change, but it's harder to see exactly what the difference is.

In my head what is happening is that perhaps the headlights bulb is a double filament bulb and when I flash the lights, both filaments kick in, but when I select full beam, it switches between fillaments, rather than use both.

- I only had the van for a night and didn't have long enough to look into this in detail.

I hope I have made sense so far.

I need to know initially if this is normal on a Connect and if so, fair enough. On the other hand, has anyone come across this before and can perhaps suggest a solution?

- If it isn't right, i'm thinking maybe a relay?

Thankfully it's still under warranty should this need proper investigation.

Thanks in advance,

Stephen
