Changing Stock Stereo And More?

Hi All,

I own a T reg Ford Focus and I am looking to change to remove the stock stero and replace it with something new in order for me to be able to play my favourite MP3'S and for a better more exciting look and feel to the interior of the car. I don't want to spend an awful lot of money as it's just a stereo in my mind. I have stumbled across this;

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_548171_langId_-1_categoryId_165474

Read the reviews and seems like a good buy with a nice £60 saving! I'm pretty confident in changing the stereo as I have changed a few in past cars I have owned. Also where would the best place be to buy removal keys, facial plate to cover up gap, and adaptor to allow me to still use volume controls on steering wheel to control new stereo.

I'm also looking to change the door Speakers in my car. However from doing some research in to how to do it and what size the Speakers are I don't seem to be able to find much so I was hoping if some guys on here could shed some light for me!

Much Appreciated

Thanks

eBay's a good bet for stuff like this. Plenty of good suppliers on there (many offering kits including all you need) and normally at much better prices than elsewhere. I've bought all I need for my last few cars' stereos on there and never had issue.

I got the last couple of MP3 HUs on there too. I paid about £40 for a Kenwood MP3 HU which had colour changing options so you could match the aftermarket HU display to your dashboard.

Here's an example HU:

And an example fitting kit:

Same price as you were going to pay for Halfords cheap brand but a JVC. Defo worth a look on eBay to see if there's anything you fancy. Just avoid anything being sent from the far East unless you are very, very patient when waiting for things to be delivered!

I've only had a very quick look so I'm sure you could find more....

That headunit looks good! JVC is a good brand and what a price! So does the headunits not come with the fitting kit?

JVC's defo a better name than Sendai....

You can find some sellers who sell HUs and fitting kits together but you can normally get a better choice and/or deal by buying separately.

TBH, I've never replaced the stock Speakers in a car. You normally get a decent increase in sound quality just by replacing the HU. I'm sure if you have a look on eBay there will again be a good choice but not my area of expertise.

To be honest I'll probably go with what you suggested the head unit is a hell of lot cheaper on eBay!

Thanks Very Much!

TRY SEARCHING FOR CUSTOM FIT Speakers FOR YOUR MOTOR.

A LOT OF THE REGULAR NAMES SUCH AS KENWOOD / PIONEER DO THEM.

YOU CAN USUALLY GET UPRATED Speakers TO FIT THE DOOR CARDS SO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO START CUTTING HOLES YOURSELF.

JUST GOING FROM 2-WAY TO 3-WAY Speakers MAKES QUITE A DIFFERENCE ON THE SOUND QUALITY SIDE.
