Mondeo 2003 Tdci Glow Plug Issue

Featured Replies

Respected members of this forum,

I have had a mondeo mk3 for 5 years (137 000km on the clock), with standard issues normally fixed efficiently.

The mk3 is a 130hp 2L tdci. I have experienced the glow plug light problem about a month ago. My car has been in the Service Garage since.

They do not seem to be able to solve the problem with the glow plug light. The system diagnostics (i believe they use bosch system diagnostics) reports injection fault on cylinder 3. However, the injector replacement does not solve the problem (they have sent the injectors to a diesel injector - BOSCH specialist for repair).

The engine runs noisy (chunking and ratling sounds on higher revs), and cuts down on power between 1500 and 3000 rpm aproximately (when you let go of the throttle, the RPM meter looks like gettin stuck at a moment, for a couple of times, i.e. does not come back to idle in a linear fashion)

After injector replacement, the diagnostics report the following errors: P0251, P2291, P1211 and P0100.

The Service Garage claims to have checked the camshaft sensor and the air pressure inlet sensor, and that the problem is just the fuel injection. However, after two diesel injection/pump specialist injector repairs, once mounded, the mounted new injectors report errors again, and the engine is noisy again. Today, they have drained the fuel tank, changed the fuel filter with no success.

Can somebody please point me in some direction, I have been without a car for too long and am running out of patiance and ideas. The service owner says that he has already made contact and received advice from som other garages but no progress.

I have already paid for some service conducted on the car but the garage now says that they do not know the solution and want to give me the car and the money back. They mingled with the injectors and i feel that the car is running worse then when I left it for repair.

I am sincerely greatfull for any suggestions and advice!

I would say try NEW injectors I expect they have used probably reman. or refurbed injectors I have made this mistake in the past we have sent injectors to a bosch specialist who has told us they are fine we have then refitted them and had same problem put new ones in and problem solved also find that one inj. does not cure the problem as the problem will in some cases move on to the next weekest injector and so on until you replace all four also change the fuel filter and get the correction factors and fuel metering values set on the pcm when you replace them otherwise you will never feel the car is back to "perfect" if thats ever possible. let me know how you get on

i've been told that re-programmeing the injectors can solve a lot, or at least i have read it a lot on internet.

What harme can it do to reprogramme them all .

all the codes point towards injector problems,as the injectors are delphi, see if there is a local agent in your area.

Hi Mark

may be worth checking the attached document.

it seems to give the right fault codes
