Engine Management Light Code P0420

Featured Replies

Hi folks

The Engine Management light came on on the wifes SportKA. I put my code reader on it and it came back with a P0420.

According to my book that means: Catalyst efficiency below threshold (Bank 1).

Can anyone tell me if this is likely to be the catalytic converter or just the Lambda sensor?

If it is the Lambda, is there only the one that sits on top of the manifold on this car?

Thanks for any info.

Thanks Stoney. I cleared the code then took the little beast for a blast and the light hasn't come back on. Im hoping its just a blip, but at 85k miles and 9 years old things start to go wrong.

I spent a grand on it last December and really dont want to be wasting more money on it although it is great fun to drive.
