Mk2.5 Parking Lamps

May sound silly, but what is the real purpose of the parking lamps? They turn the sidelights on...

I'm a little confused (easily done)

if you get out of the car and leave your side lights on,

  • the buzzer will beep to alert you they are on
  • when you lock the car the side lights will be switched off automaticlly after 60 minutes by the Gem

if you get out of the car and leave your parking position on

  • the buzzer wont alert you
  • the lights wont turn off themselves after 60 minutes because they are on a direct feed from the battery instead of through the Gem

Ahh I see :) What situation would I need that in though? (don't say parking :P )

Ahh I see :) What situation would I need that in though? (don't say parking :P )

for example if you were in a situation where you needed to park the car on the side of a country road where ther was no street lighting,

then this feature would be usfull to help alert other drivers that your car is parked on the side of the road before they actually reach it.

or parked on a narrow street perhaps.

May sound silly but by doing this would it have any affect on the battery?

Leaving any sort of lights on will use power from your battery and if left on for more than three to four hours could drain your battery up to 40%

Indeed, one of my oppo's accidentally left the parking lights on his focus lit for 48 hours and the battery was flat as a pancake.

I'd recommend using them for no more than a couple of hours.

TBH I have never used mine.
