Led Strips Running From A 12V Cigarette Charger

Featured Replies

Hey!

Haven't posted in a while, finally got my ford fiesta :)

One thing I mainly want to do is add lights into the footwell of the car. I want to run it from the 12V cigarette charger. I've purchased the following:

1 X Nokia In car charger (Spliced the endings already - Red/White cables)

2 X LED Strips (in Red) (should be here soon)

1 X Wire Connecter Box.

Any ideas on hooking one of these up?

I've got an old (demo) LED strip which I used to use on my computer desk, which is from the same shop I purchased the two Red Strips from. I simply just tried touching the ends from the LED strip up to the connected in car charger... but only two LED's lit up? :(

Any help? This is the one thing I REALLY want to do to my car

Thanks in Advance,

Mark

Sounds like the ampage is too low.

The best option will be to run off your courtesy light feed so you get the correct source values.

Damn "/ and where would that be? and would it be easy to just unhook when I come to sell the car?

Run a feed to the courtesy light up the A pillar and above the head liner.

Hi,

Their is a loom that comes on the illuminated ignition rings that plugs in to the interior light so you don't need to cut any wires and it can easily be removed without a trace if required.

Brigante had the loom part without the ignition ring.

This part would give you a positive and negative feed from the main front interior light without cutting cables.

Then you just çonnect your led strips to the new blue and black feed from brigante.

You can find his profile on here and pm him.

Done! Although it's not from a power source I found a way to it with the cigarette lighter! :D Just got to tidy up a bit, and change the drives side!

Looks good mate,

Any further mods planned?

Perhaps a matching illuminated gear knob.
