Twin 40 sealing problems

Featured Replies

hey, got a question, does any one run twin 40's? if so what gasket/spacer setup ate they using between inlet/carb, i am havin trouble getting them to seal they are always drawing slighty, i have seen ones flat mounted with thin paper type, but i thought they had to float slighty on rubber seals the vibration would be too much for the float cahmber or even crack the inlet as they arent very light, right now i have put in single o ring seals bonded to a metal locator plate but even worse than before, i have metal individual spacers and plastic ones, both designed to hold a o-ring either side, what do you think is the best bet? its a 91 sierra hatch 2.0 pinto, what are you guys using?

hi there, i work for northampton motorsport, otherwisr known as the carburettor and injection centre, we use metal gaskets with rubber o-rings in the middle, if you need some further help check out our website www.northamtonmotorsport.com, our contact details are on if you require any further help.

I have used both the thin metal plate with single O ring slotted over the centre hole in the plate, and also the thick plastic spacer type with two seated O rings, front and back. Both systems work well.

Its important to set the compressed rubber dougnut washers under the fixing nuts to the correct thickness to ensure the O rings are clamped with right pressure.
