Door Handle And Bezel Fitment?

Hi

My wife's smax was clobbered in a car park and the rear drivers side door handle and bezel was knocked off. I can see how the handle fits back in but not the bezel - I had assumed it would just click into place but it feels as if it is sprung against something and will just fall off. I have bought a new bezel so it is not missing any lugs etc.

Does anyone know how these handles fit together? Believe they are common to mk2 focus and mk4 mondeo as well.
