I have a ford mondeo TDCI and it is making big clouds of black smoke when accelerating and starts chugging when going an average speed! Had car serviced and EGR valve cleaned but with no joy!

Anybody had this problem and can anyone help?

    check the large intercooler hose below the egr valve for splits as this will cause black smoke and running problems usually around 1800rpm.

    did you clean your egr with carb cleaner? I did 2 egr's & knackered both using carb cleaner for some strange reason. would agree that its probably split hose though
