Can I Custom Build A Cd Changer Cable

I have an RDS 5000 eon head unit with the 12 pin CD Changer connection at the back the plan would be to connect this to a Philips RC 026 which has an 8 Pin round Din connection. I have the pin out details for both but would anyone happen to know if these two would actually communicate with each other? The ford Uses the reference ACP but the Philips has a D2B interface the cd unit was an aftermarket fit into a Citroen Picasso with their standard radio so I assume it could be possible.
