Aux Facility On Ford 6000Cd Radio

Hi All. New to this but looking for some help concerning my Ford 6000CD Radio in my 2010 CMax. The on-going problem is that when I press the AUX button to use an iPod the screen momentarily flashes AUX then goes back to the radio. This was a problem with the original radio which was replaced in Nov 2012 and now this one is doing the same and it does it whether anything is plugged into the AUX socket or not.

Is this a known fault with these radios? Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a cure? The warranty has run out and Ford aren't interested.
