valandgraeme
i have just bought a 2002 ka luxury that only came with one key. the central locking didnt work via the key but it did open the doors and start the car. i put a new battery in the key fob but it was just the same. i got a spare key cut at a local locksmith and was told my original key didnt have a transponder in it so it should not be able to start the car (but it does !!!). the new spare key opens the car but wont start it. the horn on the car doesn,t work and i am now wondering if the previous owner has somehow disabled the immobalizer and alarm (horn). any ideas anyone ????? delboy
hi go to your local fords parts as they do keys with the chip for the ka looking for about £50 for the key & the setup of the chip that's on it with the immobilizer i am pretty sure you cannot disabe them ? i would goto fords & get a key sorted. you will need your ka old key for this to be done as they need the info off the ka computer for them to set the new key & they may do the old one for it if that's playing up. Dont know where you get your prices from. Ford will charge approx £90-£120 for new keys and PATS reprogramme. They dont just do single keys, you'll get a complete new set.
