Focus Engine Change

Featured Replies

Hi

Due to major problems with the turbo on my 55 plate Ford Focus LX I was wondering whether the later FORD FOCUS 2012 1.6TDCI COMPLETE DIESEL ENGINE would be able to fit my earlier car and whether or not the turbo problems have been resolved on the later ones.

Many thanks

Nick

Can't see why it physically won't fit not familiar with the 1.6 myself but the actual engine bay is of standard config so might have to swop maybe a mount or so I believe the turbo probs where ironed out on the later engine as well just done an engine swop on my 2.0 took it out the front rather than struggle taking it out from underneath big old heavy lumps believe me .maybe someone else can chip in with any other advice .also it's the date of manufacture you should be looking at not reg date as cars can be in compounds for ages before actual reg just a pointer so you don't put like for like in if you know what I mean .

Ok Steads Many thanks for your reply.

i may be wrong but the wiring harness will need to be taken from the donor car as well as the ecu etc i dont think on the newer engines its as simple as swapping it over to be honest

Hello Artscot79

I had a feeling that would be the answer many thanks its a shame it`s a great car but this turbo problem is such an expensive fix given it`s low value, it seems it`s not worth repairing sadly. a recon turbo is £400 and then you need all the other bits and even then it seems it is likely to go again shame really as when running properly you can't really fault it.
