Fixing Heat Shield

Featured Replies

Have any of use got any idea how to fix the heat sheild on my mk6 fiesta without the studs, the heat sheild has riped from two of the studs, the studs are still there but are rusty and are no longer useable, any suggestions would be brilliant.

I use a few methods depending on how the situation is.

sometime i use large aluminium washers cut out with a holesaw as repair washers to cover the corroded part of the shield. failing this i have used large washers and rivets or polyurethane sealant (tiger seal for example)

All is not lost usually even if the studs are rusty, if you can squeeze the centre of the nut slightly so you can make it a press fit over the stud - this often works and i sometimes add polyurethane sealant or even studlock.

hope this helps
