Steering wheel lock?

Featured Replies

Is it worth buying one? Ive never owned a new car before, in fact im actually looking forward to putting my P plates on once i get it early June :). Ive pretty much no experience when it comes to cars, and today ive just started thinking about the security side of owning a car.

New cars in my view don't need them. They have their own inbuilt wheel lock anyway. The chance of somebody steeling a new fiesta without the key is very very low. If you deadlock the car's doors shut, they cannot be opened from the inside or outside of the car. They will have to smash the window to get into the car.

In my 24 years of driving I have had my car keyed and once broken into for my stereo (back in the 80s when ford stereos had those metal clips to pull out your radio), since then I have had a couple of very nice decent cars and thankfully have never had them touched despite other cars in my area being vandelised, we pay out for garages now in a block near to us, its a lot of money each month but its also peace of mind, saying that a women I work with had her landrover sport pinched from her drive outside the house a few weeks back whilst she slept. No matter what security you have, if someone wants your car - a low loader truck is all they need, make sure your insured and that you deadlock (twice press the lock on your remote) the car everytime.
