Will any Remote C/L Module fit to my NON Remote C/L Focus?

Featured Replies

As per a previous post i asked if upgrading from Central Locking to Remote Central Locking was possible on a 2000 Focus CL.

The answer was YES.

Now i need to know if any Remote C/L module will work because i've noticed they have slight different Part Numbers (last 2 digits).

The one fitted to my car ends with 'AB' and under this number it's got 'CL', in guessing that stands for Central Locking.

When looking on eBay others end with different digits like 'FB' and under the part number its says CL DL RF, some all so have: AS IS.

If CL is Central Locking

DL = Double Locking

RF = Radio Frequency

AS = Alarm System

IS = ????????????? its not Immobiliser system because thats in the car ECU.

So as far as i can tell i need one with CL DL (although i wont be using DL as my car isn't fitted with it) & RF. But would it matter if the module had all the other features (AS & IS)?

Thanks

Graham

I believe IS is addition to the alarm system being Interior Scanning, all the other codes are indeed correct

If you're prepared to search you can get a CSM with just central locking and remote control and no double locking feature.

Finally got a remote module but its from a Mondeo (same Part Number) and its got all the above markings on it (CL DL RF AS IS), when i plug it into my focus the module starts clicking and my hazard lights start flashing so thats obviously the module sounding the alarm (i haven't got the horn for it so don't hear anything except the clicking).

When its finished (clicking stops after 30 secs and Hazards stop after 5 mins) i try and program my key to it but without success.

I do not hear a chime after turning the ignition on and off 4 times within 6 seconds.

Do i need something else to make this work?

Does the Mondeo use the same RF key fob as a Focus?

Thanks

Graham

Does the Mondeo use the same RF key fob as a Focus?

It certainly does, only the chip differs for the PATS. What year Mondeo was it from, was it one fitted with a GEM or CTM?

It was from a 1999 (v Reg) Mondeo.

I don't know if it was gem or ctm.

Very strange, it should be CTM same as yours then. I'll have a scoot on TIS tonight when I get home from work see if theres something we've missed. I'm nearly sure when I looked before there was no mention of any WDS programming that needed doing after installing.

Just checked, nope just plug and play. Possibly you have a faulty module or blown a fuse whilst changing the module?

All fuses are ok.

Apart from not being able to program my fob to the module the central locking works when the car is locked with the key in door.
