Brake Pads (2009 Focus)

Featured Replies

Hiya guys,

I'm no expert, but I need to change the brake pads on my 2009 Focus. What are the best for the job? and what sort of prices am I looking at? As far as I am aware the pads have never been changed and they were an advisory on it's first MOT.

Just asking what parts I will need? Thinking of painting the rear drums black and the front calipers red whilst I'm at it.

there are a few out there you can try, mintec are an excellent breed but more expensive.

I would say your looking at around £15 - £20 a pad on average. You can buy cheaper without compromise on quality, but its really what you want for it. I know you have a few mods so perhaps better brakes are more important, in which case, you could be looking at £20 - £30 per pad.

As for the tools, all you really need is a jack, axle stand (optional but safer), Large G clamp, hex key set, screwdriver and bit set, and a wire coathanger.

Its really not a bad job replacing the pads.

Normally I use Pagid pads and discs unless anyone specifies otherwise. Available from the likes of eurocarparts and you should be able to get 25% off them

pagid pads are good, changed the pads on my old focus and they increased the cars stopping ability. I have been tempted to do all the pads and discs on my CMAX, but for all pagid's I would be looking at a couple of hundred, and for me its unaffordable, but they are good for what you get!

Jeebo you should get quite a bit of change out of £200 for discs and pads all round

for Pagid's?

I was pricing them up and and it was coming to a lot more than that! :p

I was pricing £40 a pad set a wheel and about £60 a disc set!

Didn't think they would be too bad for your motor. What size are the discs do you know?

cant remember, might start looking into it when they start really misbehaving. Right now between them and the tyres, they behave fine! anyway, enough of my (apologies for taking this away from you momentarily Rhino)
