2010 Fiesta Econetic Idle Noies

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I noticed that when idling the engine does a ticking noise every 45 seconds or so followed by a fluctuation in rpm - any idea what it might be ?

The car has done 67000 miles and has last been serviced at around 65500 miles.

Cheers

don't think so..

Also there is no loss of power nor any check lights showing up

I only ask as the fiesta has quite a loud electromagnetic clutch which engages and disengages the A/C compressor unit, while you have it switched on.

As the compressor is engaged the revs will dip slightly as the engine is under increased load.

Or is it being more dramatic than that?

Well spotted, it was indeed the AC :). Turned it off an the ticking/ rev fluctuations were gone.

One other thing I've noticed, when I turn the engine off I can hear a belt squeaking for a few more seconds.. is it possible it's the fan ?

If I start the engine, rev it a few times and then turn it off there's no squeak.

It probably will be either Fan, AC or alternator just running down from its rotation speed.
