Alternator wiring. Need help please!

Featured Replies

I have recently swapped the engine in my fiesta from a 1.25 to a 2ltr Zetec E (originally from a mondeo).

I have got the engine running however the alternator is not recharging the battery. The alternator from the old 1.25 had a 2pin plug and Joined the old loom. The alternator on the Mondeo engine however has a main 10mm nut and stud for connection to the battery as well as 3 pin plug socket, and I am unsure how to connect it to the old fiesta loom or via the ECU I am now using (Independant Pectel T2). Can anyone tell me what each of the three pins is for on the Mondeo 2lt alternator? Then I would stand a chance at finding out how to wire it up correctly to the clocks in the dash and also to charge the battery etc. I cannot use the old 1.25 alternator as it is a different design and will not mount to the engine.

Any help greatly appreciated

Rob
