Fitting An Mk7 Zetec S Front Spoiler To A Zetec Issue

Featured Replies

I bought a second hand zetec s front spoiler (also known as the front air dam) which i plan to fit on my standard zetec. What are these clips for? When i tried to put the spoiler on the car the clips have no where to go. Its hard to explain. The spoiler is a genuine ford product and all the pictures i have seen of the spoilers also have the clips. Hopefully the picture appears, its my first post :)

A Zetec-S front bumper would have the holes for those to slot in to.

You'll need to cut/sand them off then use an adhesive (I hear Tiger Seal comes highly recommended) to bond it to your bumper.

Same as nath, getting a body shop to do mine. They will sand it all down bond to the car then paint all the bumper the same colour rather than a little patchy paint, if you get me. But yh tiger seal is easily the best out there, used it to secure a shed window but wish i didnt now as i carnt get it off -.-

thanks for the replies, looks like i will be bringing it to a body shop then, do you know roughly how much it would cost to get it resprayed and fitted? Ive got the rear spoiler but have to get it painted as well.

Im paying £520 for the front splitter side skirts rear comers and spoiler all colour coded and fitted so it wont come off im a hurry lol, ask around you can get a good deal

O also dont even bother trying ford they quoted me £900 just to paint them lol i kindly said no haha

£520 is pretty good. I bought the rear spoiler for £160 and the front spoiler for £80 both of eBay which was decent but i own a 5 door fiesta so the side skirts are £168 each.

Do you know how much your insurance will go up?

I spoke to them and mine said i will only have to pay for admin fees £25, and £50 for the additional body kit but as its a ford upgrade its not as expensive :) win win

thats class, hopefully mine will be roughly the same. I have a blackbox in the car for insurance reasons which might help keep the price down

How is it with the black box? I was going to get one but opted out. And yh its not that bad :) i was happy

It can be very annoying because i have to stick to the speed limit, so cars are always right up behind me especially on country roads where everyone goes well over the speed limit. Ive had big white vans over take me before haha. If i drive well, the second year the insurance can be half of what it was the first year.

I must say i probs wouldnt last long on one of them then as the only roads around me are country lanes and B roads unless i go i to the city, and i know what you mean speed limit signs dont mean a thing on back roads, i think the best thing ive ever seen was i had just passed my test and was going to work on a really sunny morning, on the back roads, i hear a huge engine noise coming from behind me and watched a tractor overtake me doing 40ish in a 50 as i just passed i didnt want to speed new car and that, dirty roads, but this tractor was lighting quick huge yellow thing i wish i could have recorded it!! I wasnt impressed lol

where did you buy the parts if you don't mind me asking? Im guessing the insurance company wont ensure second hand parts

I got my front splitter from the body shop im getting it done at, they had bought one for someone else and then they didnt want the work done, i got the side skirts online from ford part uk, then went to the scrap yard and got a zetec s original rear bumper with the skirts and the diffusor, so they are all ford parts but i told the insurance company that and as long as it was professional fitted the guy at Churchill didnt seem to care when i spoke to them so not my problem now :) they accepted it lol

But by all means yes they should insure second hand parts as long as they are safe and fit for purpose how can they not?? My dad had an mg tf le 500 1.6 and swop the engine for a second hand one but it was a 2lt (only done 3000miles ) they didnt say a thing about second hand
