protection on paint when delivered to dealer

Featured Replies

Does anybody know what the dealer uses, to clean the factory applied protective coat off of new cars at delivery, they have diamondbrited my car but i believe there is small spots of this protection underneath the D.B, have obtained some D.B thought i would redo these areas, but want to remove these spots correctly first. cheers

Dont know about now, but they used to use a sort of wax to cover the car from the factory and a steam cleaner to remove it,(used to work for Ford Main Dealer) used to go out the back of the workshop and get covered in the stuff floating in the air

but what with to-days health and safty people they may use more modern methods

best of luck with the removal of offending spots....have you tried clearasil........lol only joking

 Thanks for the tip, unfortunately my car has black spots and clearasil only works on white spots :P

My OH is a car valeter (his own business) but has worked for dealerships, been doing it for 17 years now, he said take it back and dont try to do anything yourself. The car would have been covered in like clingfilm (ours was blue shrinkwrap lol as a tiny bit was left under our spoiler) upon delivery, as they remove the coating it can leave sticky bits in areas, it seems in your case a solvent was used to clean the wrap sticky bits off then not wiped clean after and then the diamondbrite added over the top, the two together may have reacted and eaten into the paintwork, diamondbrite will send a rep around to check your car over, do not touch anything as it may void your bodywork warranty.
